Google released a new keyword yesterday, named the Search-based Keyword Tool. With this new tool you can get a better knowledge on what your potential customers are searching for and which keywords you should advertise on your campaign.

Here’s the scoop: you know that the Google search engine starts with searches conducted by users and helps them find relevant pages. But for keyword targeting, what you want is a tool that goes in the opposite direction by starting with your pages and identifying keywords that potential customers are searching on to find your products or services. The Search-based Keyword Tool does exactly this, leveraging search query data relevant to your website’s content. In other words, this new tool gives you keywords that are highly relevant to your site but are not part of your AdWords campaigns. This helps you take advantage of missed opportunities.

The Search-based Keyword Tool is now available to all advertisers in the US and UK. IMO, this is perfect solution for those setting up their AdWords campaign and doesn’t know which keywords to start with.

Have you heared about SEO? What is SEO anyway? SEO is an acronym for “search engine optimization” or “search engine optimizer.” To give you more idea of what SEO means, here are the some definitions of SEO.

A simple Definition from Google: A form of online marketing, search engine optimization (or search engine marketing) is the process of making a site and its content highly relevant for both search engines and searchers. Successful search marketing helps a site gain top positioning for relevant words and phrases.

Strategies and tactics undertaken to improve web pages so they gain a higher ranking in the searchengines, from Search Engine Genie

According to Wikipedia: Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks,” the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

On my next post, I will give you an Idea how does SEO works. Stay tune —

What is Daily Budget?

Your daily budget is the amount that you’re willing to spend on a specific AdWords campaign each day. AdWords displays your ads as often as possible while staying within your daily budget. When the budget limit is reached, your ads will typically stop showing for that day. How quickly your ads are shown during a given day is determined by your ad delivery setting.

On any single day, the AdWords system may deliver up to 20% more ads than your daily budget calls for. This helps make up for other days in which your daily budget is not reached. Google Help–>

What is Monthly Budget?

A monthly budget is the amount you’re willing to spend per month. The main difference from the daily budget setting is that you can review your performance and campaign spending based on a monthly goal rather than a daily goal.

Google have rolled out the monthly budget option to just a few accounts, and this feature is still under beta testing. It works quite simple. Instead of specifying a daily budget, they turn calculating it for 30 days, you can straight away set a monthly budget. This comes as an advantage when on certain days you have an extraordinarily high traffic, and other days very lean traffic. Both daily and monthly budget have their own pros and cons, and depending on individual needs, the advertisers are given an option. However, at this moment, the feature of monthly budget is not available in all accounts.

How to change your budget for an ad campaign:

Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.

Click the name of the campaign you’d like to edit.

Click Edit Campaign Settings near the top of the campaign overview page.

Under Budget Options, enter a new daily budget.

Select a delivery method: standard or accelerated. This option controls how quickly your ads are shown during the day. Standard delivery is automatically selected for you.

Click Save Changes.

Google AdSense was the first major contextual advertising program. It works by providing webmasters with JavaScript code that, when inserted into webpages, displays relevant advertisements from the Google inventory of advertisers. The relevance is calculated by a separate Google bot, Mediabot, that indexes the content of a webpage.

Googles Adsense programme delivers contextual ads that look like Adwords but are actually banners generated on the fly to partner sites. Resources..

AdWords is Google’s flagship advertising product and main source of revenue ($16.4 billion in 2007)[1]. AdWords offers pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, and site-targeted advertising for both text and banner ads. The AdWords program includes local, national, and international distribution. Google’s text advertisements are short, consisting of one title line and two content text lines. Image ads can be one of several different Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) standard sizes. Wikipedia

What to do and how does it works?

Mobile Ads

Video Ads

Ads for TV, Radio, and Print

Why to use adwords?

Its easy to setup

You can control your spending (Budget Management)

I had a problem last week on my clients ads. I type in some of our keywords on Google if it will trigger our ads or if the ads will show. But I don’t see any of my clients ads. So I called Google Adwords Support to ask why this is happening and what would they suggest to keep my ads running / showing.

Here’s what the Google Adwords Support reponse with my questions:

Keywords may temporarily stop entering the ad auction if they register very few Google property searches for a long period of time. These keywords are considered low-traffic keywords.

Very little search traffic for a keyword could happen for a variety of reasons, including a lack of relevance to users’ searches because of keyword obscurity, specificity, or a significant misspelling of the intended keyword. This state is only temporary, and these keywords will be reactivated automatically if we find that they could start delivering traffic.

I have reviewed your account and find that your ad is running. However, your ad is regularly approaching or meeting your monthly budget. When this occurs, your ad may show less frequently to keep your account within the budget you’ve set. There are two ways to help your ads show more often:

refining your keyword list - If you would like to increase the visibility of your ads while maintaining your current budget, we recommend refining your keyword list to reduce unwanted clicks.

increasing your daily budge - If you would like to maximize your ads’ visibility with your current keyword list, on the other hand, you can do so by increasing your budget.

To see a more detailed explanation about low-traffic keywords, see our FAQ at: https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=36558.
